Bear with us (pun intended), we'll explain... When traditional streetwear giants drop new collections, the lines of HYPEBEASTS are almost always exclusively men.
In streetwear forums, we've heard women are often insulted or excluded from conversation because other users feel "it's not for them".
So we asked ourselves why?
The answer is that major streetwear brands inevitably design streetwear with men in mind, as men are the traditional heroes of the skating, surf and music subcultures which streetwear is rooted in.
BUT we see vibrant, stylish women on the streets of Soho, London, everyday who are confidently ditching heels - or at least the pressure to wear them - in favour of feeling confident and sexy in a baggy T or hoodie.
So Dead Ted Club was conceived to slay the perception that streetwear is a man’s domain and silence gender stereotypes created around male hero brands.
Why a teddy? Because a teddy is also a globally recognised symbol which is often associated as male - despite bears representing both male and female.
We want to create a space in the market for female heroes of the urban city scene, and an iconic club for women who are bold, defiant and mischievous.
